treated like a VIP

When I was a kid I was pretty sure we were in the “middle class.”

It's funny, because no one tells you something like that. You just figure it out.

When others were living in apartments, we lived very close, but in a house. But while we were living in a house, others were living on a hill, in a mansion.

It was pretty clear we were smack dab in the middle of things. And I didn't mind. Until I did. By high school it was pretty clear that there were haves and those who had less – and I was in that second group.

Orange County, in Southern California, was filled with the first group. And it was clear, everywhere you looked.

So you can imagine my surprise when we went, one weekend, down to San Diego to visit some friends.

Our San Diego friends had made it!

I don't know what car they drove, but it was fancy and nothing like our station wagon. I remember that.

It was also the first time I saw a house that had its backyard connected to a golf course.

They also had a jacuzzi in their backyard – in ground. Not something I had seen a lot of.

But the best thing that weekend was going out on the water on their yacht. It was amazing!

It got even better that evening

As the sun started to set, we took the yacht towards a restaurant. Because it had a dock, we moored the boat and walked up to this five star restaurant.

That was the only time in my life I'd ever done that and I was shocked! But it got better.

We were taken to a back room, the wine cellar, and we were set up with a private table in a private room for what began a 5 or 6 course meal.

I was a teenager but at that moment I felt very adult. I was middle class but at that moment I felt rich.

Have you ever wanted to be treated like a VIP?

I tell you this story because it's the very first time in my life that I felt seriously, remarkably, uniquely special.

I knew I hadn't done anything to deserve it – I was riding the coattails of our family friend. But I didn't care. I loved the feeling.

Today, I feel that kind of special whenever I hang out with non-technical people and they want help with things like WordPress.

They can't believe the things that a person can do online – a single person – in a few minutes or hours. It's a magical superpower.

And no matter how many times others will say coding isn't a superpower, or the times others will say that the web stuff I'm talking about isn't even coding, no matter any of it, the people who are the recipients of some of the work I do consider it amazing.

And because of it, I'm blessed and showered with praise, respect and gifts. All because I get to change other people's lives with WordPress.

I know what you're going to say…

If you're like me, you're already telling me (in your head) that you're not a serious coder, a developer, or a person who can do what I'm suggesting.

You're no VIP.

That's what you're saying, but I beg to differ. Trust me, I know what it feels like to feel like an impostor.

But trust me when I tell you – I know how you can develop your own skills and become the VIP I'm talking about.

It takes a single click. Right here. Click it. And join the VIP program at WP Sessions.

And in no time you'll be thanking me for the experiences you'll experience. The life you'll live. And the lives you'll touch.

All because of this thing we call WordPress.
