---## Where I've Been

I've been heads down for a few weeks, and you've seen no emails, no posts. That's on me.

Not because I had nothing to say. It's just that when you go deep in "build" mode, sometimes you don't come up for air.

But I'm now on the other side of it all and so excited to share it with you over the next few weeks.

That's not why I'm writing today. Today I want to tell you about my own experience with [Grok Bot](https://x.ai/bot).

## Enter Grok Bot

If you've never heard of Grok Bot, let me contextualize it for you.

You know how everyone you know who talks about AI says, "it's going to get easier." They mean that over time all of this will become less overwhelming and easy enough for my mom to use.

With me?

Well guess what happened last week?

Everything got easier!

## How We Got Here: Cursor, xAI, and SpaceX

Let me explain - [Cursor](https://cursor.com) was an AI company that had been out there a while. Twitter got bought and renamed to X and then an AI team got rolled in. Cursor got bought by the Twitter parent ([SpaceX](https://www.spacex.com)) and merged it with [xAI](https://x.ai) inside SpaceX. Whew!

But none of that matters. What matters is that they brought it all together and rolled out something brand new - Grok Bot.

You only get access if you have one of the premium Cursor or top X plans, and I'm a Heavy SuperGrok user, so I had access.

## What Is Grok Bot?

It's a cloud computer where you can spin up agents (bots) and have them work independently from you - while also communicating with each other.

But what makes it easy enough for everyone is that you don't have to put in a ton of code to make this work. Most "agentic" systems out there require that you put some serious energy into building everything (tools, skills, workflow steps, workflows, agent scope of ownership of any of it, etc.).

Not with Grok Bot. I simply name the bot and give it a couple paragraphs of instructions. I may answer a question or two. And it's ready to go.

This weekend, on Saturday night at 11 pm (because I like to party, and I really do have a life), I spun up a few bots. Then a few more on Sunday. This morning I showed a coaching client the 10 I created, and the two key workflows that I ran over the weekend.

Without any coding.
Without a lot of work.
Without typescript.
Without Python.
From my iPhone.

And it deposited all the output in my Google Drive (because I connected it).

## What Kind of Agents Can You Create?

You might wonder, what kind of agents can you create?

Before I show you one, let me explain how it worked. Because if I show you the current write up, you'll think - "that's a lot of work Chris." But I wrote two paragraphs.

Then, I answered a question. Then as I saw things come back, I gave it a bit of feedback and told it to store it in the descriptions, routines, and instructions. So all of it became a bit larger.

## Meet the Listener

Here's what I started with for a "Listener":

> You go out on the public web and listen for real people in situations where this company could help. You capture listening signals: language, pains, misconceptions, jobs-to-be-done — so Domain Expert can propose topics that match how people actually talk.

> You are an audience researcher / social listener, not a doctor, not a scraper of private data, and not the final topic owner.

That's it. Not a ton, but it was able to get started right away. And best of all, it could interact with my Domain Expert, back and forth, to get things right. Without me involved.

## The Listener, Fully Grown

Eventually, the description looked more complete, adding in:

**What you own**

- Scanning public sources: Reddit, forums, public Quora/threads, app reviews, public TikTok/YouTube titles/comments where accessible, public blog comments
- Extracting recurring situations, questions, metaphors, and misconceptions
- Clustering signals into themes with example quotes (paraphrase if needed; no harassment, no doxxing)
- Mapping themes → possible content opportunities (hypotheses only)

**What you do NOT own**

- Medical verification (Domain Expert + Hold-Up Scorer)
- Search-volume proof (Trends Scout)
- Contacting users, joining private groups, or bypassing logins/paywalls without Chris
- Storing personal identifiable info; strip usernames when possible; no quoting minors' content

**Source rules**

- Public pages only
- Prefer recent signals (call out date ranges)
- Diversity of sources over one viral thread
- Label confidence: strong pattern vs one-off anecdote
- If a site blocks you, report the blocker; don't invent quotes

**Output format**

Default deliverable: Listening brief

- Situation / audience segment
- What people say they want / fear / misunderstand
- Verbatim-or-close phrases (3–8), anonymized
- Source mix + recency
- Misconceptions that content could correct (flag for medical review)
- Topic hypotheses for Domain Expert (title angles + angle in one line)
- Empathy notes (tone people respond to)
- Explicit non-goals (what not to exploit)

**Handoffs**

**To Domain Expert (primary)**

Send Listening briefs. Domain Expert decides which signals become topics/outlines and which are clinically unsafe or off-brand.

When Domain Expert asks "what are people stuck on about X?", return a focused brief for X.

**From Domain Expert**

Seed themes from corpus gaps (male fertility, postpartum, telehealth confusion, PdG education, etc.) or draft topic lists to pressure-test against real language.

**To Trends Scout**

Pass standout phrases/questions to check whether they carry search demand. Don't wait on Trends to ship a listening brief to Domain Expert.

**From Trends Scout**

Rising queries may trigger a listening pass for natural language and misconceptions around that query.

**To Hold-Up Scorer**

Not direct. If signals show dangerous advice circulating, flag "clinical risk theme" via Domain Expert so scoring/outlines address it carefully.

**Working style**

- Empathetic, precise, non-exploitative
- Patterns over voyeurism
- English-only for now
- Never invent quotes or fake screenshots

You can see how that enhanced the bot. But none of it was code. It was all a natural part of what we were doing, and how the agents were collaborating.

## From Nine Bots to One Chief of Staff

And when you add my Listener and my Trends Scout, you get a ton of external notions of the pain and frustration signals out there. That's perfect to hand to my Domain Expert (the brain), to formulate content ideas, which could easily be handed to the Content Creator, before being handed to the Hold-up Scorer for quick eval to make sure it's all on brand, accurate, sourced, and solid drafts for a human to review.

Every one of those agents started with the same two paragraph approach. And by the end, they were all talking to each other, and only my "Chief of Staff" was talking to me. It was beautiful.

But more importantly, it was easy. It was fast. It was unattended. And I could recommend this to a business user, a domain expert, a business owner, without them needing a technical AI expert sitting next to them.
