I Haven’t Worried About Context Windows in Months

Last week, my Twitter feed exploded with people buying Mac Minis. The excitement wasn’t about the hardware—it was about a personal assistant AI that started as Clawdbot, became Moltbot, and now goes by OpenClaw.

People were losing their minds over one feature: it didn’t forget things. No more “you’ve reached your limit for this conversation.” No more Claude Code compacting your context into oblivion mid-project.

I watched all this unfold with a strange feeling. Because I haven’t had those problems in months.

Not because I’m smarter. Not because I found some secret prompt. Because back in December, I installed something called ​CORE​. And it quietly solved the memory problem before everyone realized memory was the problem.

What most people (especially consultants) miss about AI tools: the tools that make you look smart aren’t nearly as valuable as the tools that make your clients smart. CORE does something I haven’t seen anywhere else—it makes everyone who uses it smarter without needing me to explain anything.

I haven’t dealt with compacting or context window limits in months.

Part of that is technique. The other day ​I told you about how I create artifacts along the way to provide real context​, giving the AI something concrete to reference instead of relying on conversation history alone. That handles most of the “forgot what we were doing” problems within a single tool.

But that’s not the only strategy I use.

Back in December, I installed ​CORE​. It’s not another AI—it’s a memory layer that sits underneath all of them.

Every conversation I have, whether in Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, or anywhere else, gets captured and ingested into a hosted memory system. Not summarized. Not compacted. Actually retained and connected.

Here’s what that looks like in practice: Last week I was in Claude Code debugging a deployment issue. Later in the week I opened ChatGPT to work on something unrelated, mentioned a question without context, and it asked if I was talking about deploying to Fly.io (from earlier in the week on a different LLM) – and it already knew what I’d tried. It connected a problem I solved last week to the question I was asking that day.

The artifacts solve context within a conversation. CORE solves context across my entire working life.

I don’t think about context windows anymore. I don’t re-explain my projects. I don’t lose the thread when I switch tools.

What surprised me wasn’t what it did for me. It was what happened when I shared it.

A buddy I’m working with was jumping between multiple AI solutions. Claude for some things, ChatGPT for others, Cursor for code. Every time something happened he didn’t understand, he’d ping me. Email. Text. Quick call.

That kind of attention feels good at first. It means you’re the trusted resource. The expert. The person who gets called.

But eventually it gets exhausting. And if you’re honest with yourself, being the answer to every question creates dependency. I’ve watched that turn into resentment—theirs and mine. Been there. Done that.

So instead of answering another question, I helped him install CORE.

Then there was silence.

Not the bad kind of silence. Not the “he’s frustrated and gave up” silence. The good kind. The kind where someone’s head is down, doing the work, and they don’t need to reach out because the AI actually remembers what they’re doing.

I saw him a week later. All he kept telling me was how he was on top of the world. Everything was moving faster. Problems he used to get stuck on were resolving themselves because his AI tools finally had continuity.

The star of the show wasn’t me anymore. It was him. And that’s exactly what I wanted.

The Real Win for Consultants

There’s something uncomfortable about making others the hero of their own story.

If they’re the hero, where does that leave you? If they don’t need you, why would they keep paying you?

Here’s what actually happens: they tackle bigger problems.

My buddy isn’t pinging me about AI confusion anymore. But he is asking me about strategic questions—the kind that emerge when you’re no longer stuck in the weeds. The relationship shifted from “help me with this thing I don’t understand” to “help me think through where this is all going.”

That’s a trade every consultant should want to make.

AI for consultants isn’t about hoarding knowledge or being the smartest person on the call. It’s about finding tools that make your clients capable, then being available for the work that actually matters.

CORE happens to be that tool for the AI memory problem. I mean, I woke up today to a new memory solution going viral. I hope many more do. And there will be others for other problems too.

The principle stays the same: any time you can make your clients smarter without you, that’s a win.

How to Introduce This to Clients

Everyone’s excited about OpenClaw and Mac Minis and local AI assistants that don’t forget. Maybe those tools will be great.

But the memory problem isn’t really about compute or context windows. It’s about connection—making sure what you learn in one place is available everywhere else.

CORE solved that for me months ago. Now it’s solving it for the people I work with.

The consultant who hoards knowledge stays busy with small questions. The consultant who makes clients smarter gets invited to the bigger conversations.
